But to move on from there was more difficult. It was the same with ménage sex. Just as many men dreamed of sleeping with two or even three women at once, so it was usually possible to find a woman who wanted to experience fucking two men at once. But as a lifestyle? Again, not so much. Throw in the fact that Niel was a werewolf and it was all much too difficult to see a way forward.

Well, Simon and Leif had achieved it. They’d found Tamara. He and Niel had to be able to do the same thing. A sub to their Dom and a woman to share in the bedroom and dungeon, one who could cope with shape-shifters being real.

It seemed a bit devious, but maybe they could use the job opportunity as a way of searching for their perfect woman.

It took them a couple of hours, but they nailed down a position description and a covering letter and e-mailed it to Leif and Simon. Then he settled back in front of his computer and got on with the work he ought to have been doing earlier. But he found himself constantly coming back to the idea of an assistant to take some of the repetitive work away from him. Although he supposed he’d need to give her some interesting tasks or she’d leave as fast as she arrived.

Once again he stopped work and thought through his regular tasks. Like his quarterly report to the Supreme. She could make the graphs and put it all onto a PowerPoint for him.

He found the thought of having help and a sexy body in his bed, running around in his head all the rest of the day. When he and Kon headed back to their apartment at the end of the day, he knew he’d need to look at it with a critical eye.

“If we’re serious about finding our woman, likely we need to be serious about making our apartment somewhere she’d be comfortable living.”

“Do you think she’ll find it too small? I don’t really want to move, but if we’re lucky enough to get the right woman I’d move to make her happy.”

Kon smiled at Niel. “Yes, I would, too. But maybe we need to look at our home a little more intentionally tonight, and see if there are things we should consider changing.”

“I knew we should have stopped at the drive-through to get a hamburger.”

Kon shook his head. “You wolves and your need for meat.”

“It’s nothing to do with being a wolf. All men like red meat.”

Kon wasn’t even listening to him. It was an argument they had often and neither of them was ever going to win it. Meanwhile, they had plenty of food back in their freezer. Five minutes in the microwave and they’d be eating.

As usual he took the elevator up to their top-floor apartment while Niel ran up the stairs. Sometimes Niel arrived first if the elevator was slow. Mostly he didn’t take more than a minute or two longer than Kon.

Kon stared at the elevator walls. It was clean, and not too scruffy. It had a few chips out of the paintwork here and there, but nothing too bad. The hallway was the same. There were no holes or stains on the carpet. The walls didn’t need repainting although at some of the apartment doorways there were marks on the paintwork, likely from people trying to get their furniture in through the confined space.

He unlocked the door to their apartment just as the door to the stairwell opened and Niel appeared, so he stood and waited for his friend. The damn wolf wasn’t even out of breath. He was seriously fit. Kon knew he would be gasping for breath if he was the one who’d run up the stairs to the seventh floor.

The living room appeared spacious, but that was mainly because they didn’t have all that much furniture. They had a couch, with a coffee table in front of it, and two armchairs facing their large flat-screen TV. When they’d bought it that television had been their pride and joy, but that was a couple of years ago now. Still, it was all the entertainment they needed most evenings.

The kitchen was just a narrow area at the foot of the room with the stove, sink, refrigerator, and pantry on the wall at the end of the apartment, and a counter dividing the cooking area off from the rest of the room. They had a couple of tall stools so they could eat at the counter, but often they ate in front of the TV.

“If she likes cooking likely she’d need a whole lot more storage space for all her gadgets, plus a real table and chairs to sit at and eat,” he said.

“Who? What? Oh, you mean this mythical woman who’s going to magically appear when we advertise the job Leif and Simon haven’t said we can offer yet?”

“Pay attention, dammit. If they can find their woman we can, too.”

“The power of positive thinking. All right, I can go with that. This corner of the room is just waste space. We could get a storage unit built in here and still have room for a small table.”

Soon he and Niel were measuring areas, talking about possibilities. To him it was all positive. They could provide a home for a woman. All they needed to do was find her.

Trinidad was lying in bed, the blankets pulled right over her neck so only her head was exposed to the cooler evening air in her apartment. Heat was so expensive she hated turning it on this early in the season. Besides, she loved to read so cuddling up in bed with a good book was the perfect way to spend an evening. When her cell phone rang she stared blankly at it for a moment before turning her book upside down to mark her place and reaching for her phone.

“Tammy, hi. I wasn’t expecting you to call me. Is everything all right?”

“Yes, everything here is awesome. Tell me, Trini, were you serious about wanting a job here at the club?”

Trinidad rolled over onto her back in surprise, clutching her cell phone in her hand. “An admin job. Absolutely.”

“It’d be working with the accounts department. Today they’ve asked for an assistant as they say they can’t cope with all the work without help.”

“It’s a real job? I mean, not just a fill in for someone off ill or something?”

“It’s a brand-new position just being created now. The club is expanding and they need more staff to cope with the extra work. I’m going to be paid five percent more than I was earning before. I expect you could request the same deal.”

Trinidad thought she could hear a man speaking in the background, but she couldn’t hear any words and wasn’t sure if it was to do with her conversation or not. “Tammy, you aren’t playing a trick on me, are you?”

“No, I’m not. I’m working here now and it’d be wonderful to have you here as well.”

“What is the club’s name? Where is it?” She swiped the speaker on her cell phone as she rummaged in her nightstand for a pen. She couldn’t find any paper, so picked up her book and snatched up her bookmark scribbling the address down on it. “The Dom’s Dungeon? Are you serious? A BDSM club? Oh wow. Working there would be so amazing.”

“Trini, it’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of and much more. I know you’d like it here.”

“So where do I find the job description? How do I apply?”

“Give me your private e-mail address and I’ll send it to you. If you’re interested, come out after work tomorrow and I’ll show you around, and you can decide if you want to apply for the job or not. But I think you will. I can’t wait for you to be here with me. That would be perfect.”

Trinidad lay there, thinking about the possibility of working at a BDSM club for a long time, and then jumped out of bed hastily pulling sweatpants and a thick sweater on over her pajamas. By the time her computer had booted up and she opened her e-mails, the message from Tammy was there. Carefully, she read through the position description. Most of the tasks she had done before and could do again. For a moment she felt downhearted about the few she didn’t know and then she straightened her shoulders. “Fuck it, I’ll apply anyway. If I can’t figure out how to do them they’ll just have to teach me. Eight out of ten is good enough.”

She raced back to bed, her feet already cold despite her thick socks, dropped her sweats on a chair and snuggled back under the blankets, but instead of reading she lay thinking about the possibilities of working in a BDSM club and
maybe even finding a Dom of her own. Since Tamara had found two men surely there’d be one there for her. Of course, two would be twice as good but she wasn’t aiming to be greedy.

  * * * *

Trinidad was certain she’d had a smile on her face all day at work at the thought of visiting the BDSM club later that evening. She’d brought her laptop bag, to hold her athletic shoes and socks to wear on the bus home across town after dark.

Like just about everyone she knew, she’d gotten her driver’s license as soon as she was old enough. But unlike her friends she’d never owned a car. Her brother was two years older than her and her father had bought them a car to share, and he’d taught her to drive in it. But by the time she’d gotten her license her brother had been using the car almost exclusively for two years. So no matter when she wanted it, he’d already taken it. Besides, one of her friends could usually take her wherever she wanted to go anyway.

And then when she’d begun work she’d moved right into the city and didn’t need a car. The buses went everywhere she needed to travel. Another positive point was that her apartment rent was cheaper because it didn’t have a car space, and every penny counted because she was saving up to get a nice apartment in a better neighborhood. A higher salary would be wonderful help with that plan as well.

On her phone she’d looked up The Dom’s Dungeon website, working out which buses to catch and looking at the pictures of the various rooms. It seemed to be quite a classy place, but she guessed they wouldn’t have anything bad on their website anyway. However, it gave her a warm, positive feeling.

Trini liked reading erotic romances. Well, actually she just liked reading. Cereal boxes, the shampoo bottle in the shower, signs in store windows, Trinidad read everything. But her current favorite genre was kinky BDSM, preferably with paranormal beings.

And more than that, she was absolutely convinced paranormal beings existed. Although she’d never seen a vampire, a werewolf, a zombie, or an alien, Trini knew there couldn’t possibly be so many thousands of books written about them if they didn’t exist somewhere, somehow. Maybe not all of them. Possibly not the weirder ones. They might just be the authors’ flights of fantasy, but the basic werewolf or paranormal being, yes, she believed completely and utterly in them. And hoped one day to meet one.

Meanwhile, her plan for today was to convince Tammy to let her peek inside a dungeon. An empty one. She didn’t want to get arrested for sexual harassment or voyeurism or whatever it was called.

All the way to the club Trinidad scrolled through the position description for the job and wrote some notes in her notebook about what she could offer as her experience in that area. She even thought of one thing she’d done for an area she’d originally thought she had no experience in, so that was a huge positive as well. But mostly she was just so excited to be seeing a BDSM club with the hopes of applying for a job afterward. Maybe tonight she’d have time to type it all up and then she could read through it tomorrow after work and send it in. There’d been no closing date on the file Tammy had sent her. She needed to check that. She didn’t want to be too late and miss out.

The bus stopped less than a block from the club so that was another piece of good news. Also a lot of the buildings along the sidewalk had awnings and verandahs which would help when it rained. Walking through snow and slush was one of her least favorite activities. One day she hoped to find a pair of boots that really did keep her feet warm and dry. So far, her experience was a total zero with fulfilling that ambition.

The lobby of The Dom’s Dungeon was huge, with a long reception desk staffed by several women in smart business suits. There were two hallways leading farther into the building and at the entrance to each was a burly uniformed security guard. A third guard was standing by an elevator which she supposed might lead down to a parking lot. Or maybe he was just there to guide people. She shrugged and went over to the desk.

  “How may I help you?”

“I’m Trinidad Meredith. I’m here to meet—”

“Tamara Wiltshire is expecting you. I’ll just let her know you’ve arrived.”

Trini stepped back from the desk, looking all around her. The place wasn’t crowded or noisy, but there was a steady stream of people crossing the lobby, and going up and down in a second bank of elevators which convinced her that the single one was definitely from the parking lot.

Tammy came down the left hallway to her and gave her a hug. “I’m so glad you’re here. Come with me.”

They passed one of the guards, who nodded at them. His dark gaze was full of intelligence so she knew he’d memorized her, which was interesting. “People don’t have wristbands to wear or something like that?” she asked.

“Some rooms require a swipe card or key card for entry, but anyone can just come here for a meal or to watch the floor shows.”

Okay that made sense. They wouldn’t want to make it too difficult or people wouldn’t bother visiting.

Trini walked beside Tammy into a large room with many tables on two levels, a stage for performances, and a second smaller one set up for live music. “This is the Stage Lounge. It’s the main meals and event area. We’ll have dinner here later. Now, tell me, what do you want to do first? Talk? Or see some of the rooms?”

“Can I see inside a dungeon, please? I’ve only read about them. I’ve never actually seen one.”

“They’re better than in the books, I can promise you,” Tammy said softly, her cheeks turning pink.

  “Now I’m jealous.”

“You never know. If you work here you might meet someone.”

Trini didn’t say anything but deep inside her heart was screaming, “I hope so.”

Tamara took Trinidad back out to the reception area. “Trinidad would like to see one of the dungeons, please. Which ones are free?”

“How about number six?” suggested the woman, offering Tammy a swipe card.

  Tammy smiled. “Thanks, Juliana.”

Tammy took the swipe card and they walked down the hallway and then down a flight of stairs. It just looked like a regular hallway that could have been anywhere reasonably nice until Tammy swiped open the door to dungeon six and flicked on the lights. The floor was stone, and the walls were painted dark gray. The ceiling was painted black but when Trinidad looked up she could see a row of eyebolts in the beams there and guessed they’d be for ropes or chains to be attached to.

A wooden cage was on one side of the room and she stared at it imagining all the dozens of different ways a person could be tied up to the various rungs and cross beams. On the other side of the room were a spanking bench and a St. Andrew’s Cross. But best of all, on the wall was a long row of whips, canes, paddles, and floggers. She walked slowly past them, occasionally reaching out to touch one of them.

Suddenly she didn’t care how much she was paid. She had to get this job. She wanted to work here, to be in this environment, to look for a Dom of her own.

It was after the official end of the day, and Konstantin still had a bunch of urgent paperwork sitting in his in-tray. “If we had that admin assistant I’d be at home eating pizza and watching baseball right now instead of still working,” he complained.

“Hey, don’t bitch at me. I’m still here, too. Have you seen my desk lately?”

“I’m pretty sure your desk is still there, somewhere under the paperwork you need to do.”

“Ha ha. Very funny. Why don’t you bitch at Leif instead of at me?”

“Because you’re right here and an easy target. But you’re also correct. It wouldn’t hurt to ask him nicely if he’s had an opportunity to look at our proposal yet.” Kon picked up his cell phone and brought up Leif’s number tapping the screen to call him on speaker phone.

  “Insane asylum. Chief resident speaking.”

Kon managed not to laugh and tried to sound serious. “I don’t think you’re allowed to use such politically incorrect terminology in the twenty-first century.”

  “
So sue me.”

“I’d rather talk to you about Niel’s and my proposal for an assistant—”

“Tammy’s already on that. She’s interviewing the prime candidate as we speak.”

  “What?”

“She’s a damn smart chick, my mate. One of her friends from the company where she used to work does bookkeeping and admin, she believes in paranormal beings, and she’s interested in BDSM.”

“You’re right. She sounds perfect for the job. What’s her name? When can she start?”

“Wait up. Can she type? Can she add up?” argued Niel.

“Why don’t you ask her yourself? She’s with Tamara in the Stage Lounge right now.” Leif clicked off the call.

Kon was still sliding his cell phone back into his pocket as Niel jumped out of his chair. “Come on then. What are you waiting for?”

“I think we should take the position description with us. We can go through it with her. If Tammy recommends her, we should accept her. I know we don’t know Tamara all that well yet, but we know Leif and Simon very well, and I trust their choices,” said Kon.

Niel grabbed his arm. “I know we started out talking about getting an admin assistant, and moved pretty fast into thinking she might be our mate as well, but there’s no reason that she has to be both. One or the other would still be a big help to us. So what if she can’t add up? If she’s the kind of woman who appeals to us, that’s good enough. And the same in reverse. If she’s married and has got six kids she still might be the perfect admin assistant.”

“I hear you and agree. But I still hope we can get the two-for-one deal the same as Leif and Simon got with Tamara. And she’s Tamara’s friend. That’s a pretty good recommendation. I can’t imagine Tammy befriending a nasty person.”

  “That’s true.”

The offices and management section of the club was off a separate hallway from the one that led to the function rooms so they had to go back to the lobby and into the other section of the building. At times, like now, it could be annoying to have to walk all the way around, but it was also a hell of a lot more secure. Security guards were always posted in the lobby to redirect anyone who headed toward the offices without an escort. Kon locked their office door behind them as they left as added security.
