  Juliana Grenville was on duty at the reception desk of The Dom’s Dungeon BDSM club when she saw Dom Beckett Parker approaching. Damn, the man was delicious. Six foot three and very solidly built, a Dom she could trust to look after her every need. With him in control of her life, she could relax and enjoy his care and instruction.

  Juliana had been lusting after this man ever since she’d started work here, but he seldom came past her desk. As a club Dom, he held a keycard to the dungeon he used and didn’t need to collect one from her each time he arrived, like those who only used the club’s facilities did. She slid off her chair and moved away from the computer, standing at the counter ready to help him in any way she could.

  “Hi, Beckett. How can I help you?”

  His black eyes flashed angrily at her. “In this club I’m to be addressed as Dom Beckett. I doubt you’ll ever be able to help me. I want to use the landline phone.”

  “Yes, Sir.” Juliana walked to the end of the counter and lifted the landline from the lower inner level of the counter onto the upper ledge of it so Dom Beckett could use it.

  “Now go away for five minutes.”

  “I’m sorry, Sir. I’m not permitted to leave the desk when I’m on shift.”

  “Of course you can leave. I’m here to keep watch, and the security guards are within call. Go and talk to them for five minutes or do your hair or whatever girls do. But get out of here. Right now.”

  He glared at her so crossly, his face in a fierce frown, that everything inside Juliana wanted to obey him. She longed to be in a dungeon with him, carefully complying with his every command. But at the moment she was working, and she had no intention of jeopardizing the best job she’d ever had because something was upsetting the man who was glaring at her right now.

  “I’m really very sorry, Sir, but I must stay here.”

  Dom Beckett’s entire body was vibrating with anger. It was radiating off him in waves she could almost see. If it had been any other man, she’d have dropped to her knees and crawled under the counter for fear he’d physically attack her. But even though he was furious, she trusted Beckett, as a Dom, to maintain his self-control.

  Then she had an idea and pulled her own cell phone from the pocket of her uniform jacket. “Would you like to borrow my cell phone? Would that help you, Sir?”

  “Thank you.” The words were spoken grudgingly, and he almost snatched the cell phone out of her hand. Then he stomped out the wide glass doors onto the sidewalk, already tapping numbers into her cell. Juliana slumped back onto her stool, her entire body quivering with the drama of the brief encounter.

  Beckett was ready to kill the fucking morons who’d removed an entire section of the roof of his house and then left for the day without tying a weatherproof cloth over the naked beams. Rain had been forecast for fuck’s sake. Taking precautions wasn’t exactly rocket science. Nor was looking up the damn weather forecast before leaving a job. And it was raining right now. All the woodwork in that room would be ruined, and he’d be fucking lucky if the water wasn’t soaking into the floorboards and flooding the downstairs of his house as well.

  It was just a da
mn fluke that he knew Darcy Nelson, another Dom who came to The Dom’s Dungeon sometimes. Darcy had some home renovation company or other, and right now that sounded good to him. Only problem was he didn’t have Darcy’s number. But Darcy and another man were in a ménage relationship with Violet, and Violet was best friends with Phoenix. Phoenix and another man were in a ménage relationship with Lachlan, one of the security guards here at The Dom’s Dungeon, and he did know Lachlan’s cell phone number.

  It was all terribly complicated. Talk about the whole world being connected with six degrees of separation or some such bullshit. This was proof of that theory. But all he needed was Darcy to rescue his damn house before it was flooded.

  Three calls later it was organized and Darcy was laughing at him. “That’s how Raff and I fell in love with Violet. When her house flooded.”

  Beckett didn’t think it was funny. “I don’t intend to fall in love, and I don’t want my damn house flooded.”

  “Don’t stress. Jason and I are already on the road heading for your place now. It’ll be fine. I’ll call you back if I need to ask you anything. Okay?”

  No. It wasn’t fucking okay. “This isn’t my cell phone. I had to borrow one. I forgot to bring mine with me today. Likely it’s still plugged into the charger in my kitchen.”

  “Give me the number and I’ll send you a text then, and you can get it when you return home.”

  A few minutes later Beckett swiped off the call and closed Juliana’s cell phone. The cover was pink and sparkly, which set his teeth on edge. In fact, everything about Juliana set his teeth on edge. Whenever he saw her, his dick became harder than a rock. Yet whenever she smiled or spoke to him, he longed to shove a ball gag inside her mouth, chain her up in his dungeon, and whip her until her ass was as red as her hair. Then he’d fuck her. But such unprofessional thoughts had no place in a Dom’s life. His job was to supply the punishment and discipline clients asked for. No more and no less. No fucking. He never ever got naked in a dungeon. Nor did he ever loosen his rigid control. Everything he did in a scene was planned to give training and then release to his clients. No sex and definitely no love.

  He simply didn’t understand why Juliana affected him like this. Besides, everyone was partnering up in threes these days, and there was no way on Earth he’d share a woman with another man. He was a Dom, and Doms did not share their toys. Or their women. Not that Juliana was his woman, of course. She meant absolutely nothing to him.

  Also he was a wolf, which meant he’d received a double dose of possessiveness. No way in hell would his wolf agree to him sharing a woman.

  Unfortunately his dick wasn’t listening to him. When she smiled and thanked him for giving back her cell phone, his cock tried to climb out of his black leather pants. He also felt guilty because he should have been thanking her. After all, she’d thought to give him her phone. Not that it took any particular effort to think of such a simple thing. He grunted, “Thanks,” to her and marched back downstairs to his dungeon. He had only ten minutes before his next client arrived, and he needed to clear his mind and think of the customer. His regulars paid good money to claim his undivided attention. He owed them his best efforts.

  Except that only a few minutes later the intercom in the dungeon beeped, and Juliana said, “Excuse me, Dom Beckett?”

  “What?” Was the fucking redheaded bitch pursuing him because he didn’t thank her nicely?

  “Your seven o’clock appointment has had to cancel, Sir.”

  Fucking hell. I could have gone home and looked after my house myself.

  He clicked the intercom off without saying anything and threw his personal toys back into the drawer only he had the key to. Other Doms used this dungeon, Dungeon One, from time to time, but his special equipment was locked up so only he could access it.

  Becket stomped out of the dungeon and back upstairs to the main foyer area and then took the stairs down again three levels to the staff parking area. He always walked instead of using the elevators, it was part of being a wolf and needing to move around, but today he especially needed to as the adrenaline and anger fizzing in his body needed an outlet.

  All the way home he pictured the fucking roofing contractor tied up in his dungeon and himself whipping him. But no, the fucking idiot wasn’t worth losing his self-control—or his job—over.

  * * * *

  “What’s all the rush for?” Jason O’Connor asked his boss. Darcy Nelson was the owner of Nelson’s Building and Home Maintenance, and they were racing out of the parking lot at the farm Darcy shared with his two partners, Violet and Raff.

  “We’re lucky we were at the farm and I could collect some tarpaulins from the store room. We’ve been asked to cover a roof because it’s got a hole in it and it’s raining.”

  “Yeah, well. I’d noticed it’s raining. How did the place get a hole in its roof? And what is it? An office? Factory?”

  They didn’t get much emergency work. Most of their jobs were renovations for offices, stores, or homes, and everything was booked in and planned in advance. However it’d worked out fine today, as they’d finished work for the day and were back at the farm tidying everything away when the call came in.

  “One of the Doms from The Dom’s Dungeon is having some work done on his house and apparently the roofers left without covering a hole. Beckett was quite annoyed.”

  “I’d be annoyed, too. Let’s hope there wasn’t anything in the exposed area to get damaged.”

  He and Darcy carried the tarpaulins up onto the roof as soon they arrived and covered the hole. One would likely have done, but they added a second one crossways just to be doubly sure, and then they packed away their extension ladder and went inside the building. Beckett had told Darcy where the contractors were supposed to have left the key—under a potted plant—and it was there.

  The floorboards of the exposed room were very wet, but once they mopped up the puddles, it didn’t look too bad. Jason had just set up his ladder in the room underneath the exposed one and was checking the ceiling when a huge man with black hair arrived.

  “Ah, fuck. Is the ceiling going to fall down?”

  Jason turned around and smiled. “You should be fine. It’s not even damp. I reckon the floorboards upstairs took the full effect. There were only a few puddles upstairs, not a lake when we got here.”

  “Thank goodness for that. I’ve been picturing an indoor swimming pool all the way home. When I wasn’t picturing myself killing the roofing contractor.”

  Jason climbed down the ladder and laughed. “I understand how you feel. But I think we got it in time. Those are our tarps on your roof though. Don’t let the roofer keep them.”

  Darcy joined them, bringing the mop and bucket. “It’s all good, Beckett. No drama.”

  “Were you expecting me to want to bury the roofer’s dead body on your farm?”

  Jason laughed, loving the big man’s humor.

  They finished tidying everything up, with Beckett’s help, and then Beckett said, “Can I buy you both a drink?”

  Darcy shook his head. “Thanks for the offer, but I want to get home to Violet and Raff, if you don’t mind. Let me know when the roof is fixed and I’ll come by and pick up the tarpaulins.”

  Jason shook his head as well. “We came in the truck together, so I have to go as well. But thanks anyway. It’s been nice to meet you.”

  Jason wouldn’t have minded going out for a beer, but he understood Darcy’s desire to be with his partners. If he had a woman in his life, or even better, a ménage relationship, he’d be in a hurry to get home as well.

  “I could drive you home afterward. It’d be no problem,” said Beckett.

  “Why don’t you stay then? You don’t need to miss out on a free beer because of me,” said Darcy.

  “Thanks. I will.”

  Beckett locked the door to his house, and Jason climbed into his car with him, waving to Darcy, who was just pulling out of the driveway. “This is a nice neighborhood. It looks li
ke a good place to live.”

  “I looked around for a long time before I bought this house. I know a lot of people who move house every couple of years, but I was searching for a place where I could stay and put down roots. My dad was military, so we moved a lot, and I’m tired of that lifestyle. I’m ready to stay in the one place for a long while.”

  “Since the company moved its office out to the farm, I’ve been thinking of living in a real house as well. I’d like to have a garden, maybe grow some vegetables. Nothing beats fresh produce eaten the day it’s picked. My apartment’s right in the heart of Richmond, and it’s damn expensive living there. Although it is convenient.”

  “Where’s your headquarters? The farm I mean?”

  “This side of the city, about another half hour farther out. That’s how we were able to get here so fast.” Jason leaned back in his seat and enjoyed talking to Beckett. The big man was very intelligent and liked to talk about everything from cars to sports to politics. They arrived at the restaurant and continued talking. A beer segued into dinner, and dinner extended until they noticed the servers around them wiping down tables.

  “Damn! How did it get so late? I’d better get you back to your home,” said Beckett.

  “Actually you need to take me to the farm. My truck’s there.”

  “Damn. I’m sorry. The time just flew by. What time do you have to start work tomorrow?”

  “Seven. How about you?”

  “Ten. Nowhere near as bad as you. We’d better get moving.”

  Jason wasn’t worried. Likely he’d hate it when his alarm clock rang in the morning, but he’d enjoyed talking to Beckett. It was always amazing to make a new friend.
